RM of ARGYLE PUBLIC WORKS FOREMAN

The Rural Municipality of Argyle is seeking a full-time Public Works Foreman to lead and manage the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for the delivery of municipal services, including roads, drainage, bridges, equipment, and shop operations, as well as providing support to Landfill and Water Treatment Plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, and support Public Works staff in a respectful and effective manner.
  • Oversee the construction, repair, and maintenance of roads, drains, bridges, culverts, and related infrastructure.
  • Manage and operate the Public Works Shop, ensuring equipment and vehicles are maintained.
  • Assist with Water Treatment Plant and Landfill operations.
  • Respond professionally to resident inquiries and complaints.
  • Ensure compliance with all municipal policies, bylaws, Workplace Safety and Health practices, and applicable legislation.
  • Provide regular reports, budget recommendations, and advice to the CAO and Council.
  • Coordinate tenders, quotations, and capital purchases in line with approved budgets.
  • Assist Council committees, the Emergency Measures Organization, and the Asset Management Team as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of road construction, drainage, and heavy equipment operation, diagnosis, and repair.
  • Supervisory and leadership experience in a municipal or construction setting.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with staff, Council, and the public.
  • Sound judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to manage budgets and projects effectively.
  • Understanding of municipal procedures, safety regulations, and workplace policies.
  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license
